Businesses, neighbors of Raynham Park hope slot machines bring jackpot

BRIDGEWATER, Massachusetts -- A statewide referendum that forced Raynham Park to shutdown greyhound racing last December affected surrounding local businesses, Enterprise News reported.

Last week house speaker Robert DeLeo said he intends to sponsor a bill that permits slot machines at four Massachusetts race tracks, Enterprise News said.

This news perked many local people up, who feel after the loss of 600 jobs at the track, that introducing slots would be a boon.

Town selectmen support the introduction of slots as long as town residents get to vote in a referendum on it, Enterprise News report said.
