London and Washington, DC -- Diplomats have risen to the occasion in London and Washington over Britain's impending World Cup match against the United States, BBC reported.

The wager is a meal, the BBC said.

The wager was arranged in a series of cable exchanges between the two Ambassadors, The BBC reported.
